POPULAR GUIDES & TROUBLESHOOTING
N64 TO HDMI
Setup • No Signal • Display Compatibility
Use this guide to connect the RetroArcadeCrafts N64 to HDMI Converter Cable to a modern TV, monitor, or projector. The converter is compatible with Nintendo 64, Super NES (SNES), and Nintendo GameCube.
Before you begin
- N64 to HDMI Converter Cable
- Included USB power cable
- A display with an available HDMI input
- Your console, power supply, and a game cartridge or disc
Quick setup
- Turn off the console and display.
- Connect the converter's Nintendo AV plug firmly to the console's AV MULTI OUT port.
- Connect the HDMI end to an available HDMI port on the TV, monitor, or projector.
- Connect the included USB power cable to the converter, then connect it to a powered USB port or a standard 5V USB power adapter.
- Turn on the display and select the HDMI input you connected.
- Insert a game and turn on the console.
Important: The USB cable supplies power to the converter. The converter may not produce a picture or sound if USB power is not connected.
No signal or black screen
- Confirm that the console's power light is on and the game is inserted correctly.
- Confirm that the TV is set to the correct HDMI input.
- Disconnect and firmly reconnect the Nintendo AV plug, HDMI plug, and USB power cable.
- Try a different powered USB port or a standard 5V USB power adapter.
- Turn everything off, connect the converter completely, then turn on the display before turning on the console.
- Try another HDMI port on the display.
- If available, test with another HDMI display to isolate a compatibility issue.
- Clean and reseat the game cartridge. A console that does not start the game may also output a blank screen.
Picture problems
Picture is stretched or cropped
Open the display's picture settings and select 4:3, Original, Normal, or Fit. Classic Nintendo games were generally designed for a 4:3 picture.
Picture looks soft or pixelated
The converter sends the console's original standard-definition video to an HDMI display. Image quality varies by console, game, and the display's processing. Turn off heavy sharpening, motion smoothing, or noise-reduction settings if the image looks unnatural.
Picture flickers or drops out
Reconnect all plugs, use a stable USB power source, and try another HDMI port. If the issue continues, test another display to determine whether the problem is display compatibility or the console's video output.
Audio problems
- Confirm that the display is using audio from the selected HDMI input and is not muted.
- Reconnect the HDMI and USB power cables.
- Try another HDMI port or display.
- If a monitor has no built-in speakers, use the monitor's audio output or another HDMI audio solution.
Display compatibility
Most HDTVs, monitors, and projectors with HDMI input should work, but support for older standard-definition console signals varies. If one display shows no picture, test another HDMI display before concluding that the converter is faulty.

PS2 TO HDMI
Setup • Component Video Setting • No Signal
Use this guide to connect a PlayStation 2 to a modern HDMI TV, monitor, or projector with the RetroArcadeCrafts PS2 to HDMI adapter.
Before you begin
- PS2 to HDMI converter
- Included USB power cable
- An HDMI cable (not included)
- A display with an available HDMI input
Quick setup
- Turn off the PS2 and display.
- Insert the converter firmly into the PS2 AV MULTI OUT port.
- Connect an HDMI cable from the converter to the display.
- Connect the included USB power cable to the converter and a front USB port on the PS2.
- Select the correct HDMI input on the display, then turn on the PS2.
Optional audio: The converter includes a 3.5 mm audio output for headphones or external speakers.
Required PS2 video setting
If the screen is black or shows No Signal, the PS2 may be set to RGB instead of component video.
- Temporarily connect the PS2 using a working composite AV cable if necessary.
- Open System Configuration.
- Select Component Video Out.
- Choose Y Cb/Pb Cr/Pr, not RGB.
- Turn off the PS2, reconnect the HDMI converter, and try again.
No signal or black screen
- Confirm the PS2 power light is green and a disc is inserted correctly.
- Verify the display is on the correct HDMI input.
- Reconnect the converter, HDMI cable, and USB power cable firmly.
- Confirm Component Video Out is set to Y Cb/Pb Cr/Pr.
- Try another HDMI cable, HDMI port, or display.
- Restart the setup with the display on before turning on the PS2.
Picture or audio problems
- Set the display to 4:3, Original, Normal, or Fit if the image is stretched.
- The adapter supports PS2 display modes including 480i, 480p, and 576i; display handling varies by TV or monitor.
- If a game supports progressive scan, follow that game's instructions to enable it.
- For missing sound, check the display volume and HDMI audio input, or test the 3.5 mm output.

YPbPr TO HDMI
Connections • Resolution • Audio & Video Issues
Use this guide to connect a device with YPbPr component video and red/white analog audio to an HDMI TV, monitor, or projector.
Before you begin
- YPbPr Component + R/L Audio to HDMI Converter
- Component video cable with green, blue, and red plugs
- Red/white stereo audio cable
- HDMI cable
- Included 5V/1A power supply or power cable
Connections
- Turn off the source device, converter, and display.
- Connect component video by matching green to Y, blue to Pb/Cb, and red to Pr/Cr.
- Connect audio by matching the white plug to L and the red audio plug to R. Do not confuse the red audio plug with the red component-video plug.
- Connect an HDMI cable from HDMI OUT on the converter to the display.
- Connect the included 5V/1A power supply.
- Select the correct HDMI input, then turn on the converter and source device.
Resolution and source settings
The converter supports compatible component-video signals and HDMI output up to 1080p. It does not turn a low-resolution source into native high-definition detail; final picture quality depends on the source and display.
For PlayStation 2, open System Configuration and set Component Video Out to Y Cb/Pb Cr/Pr. RGB output will not work through the YPbPr inputs.
No signal or incorrect colors
- Confirm the display is on the correct HDMI input and the converter's power indicator is on.
- Verify all three video plugs are in the matching Y, Pb/Cb, and Pr/Cr inputs.
- Confirm the source is configured for component/YPbPr output.
- Try another HDMI cable, port, or display.
- Try a resolution supported by both the source and display.
Audio and video issues
- No audio: Reconnect the red/white audio plugs, confirm L and R are correct, and check the display's HDMI audio settings.
- Green, purple, or distorted picture: Recheck the three component-video plugs and source output mode.
- Flicker or dropouts: Use the included stable power supply, shorten cable runs, and test another HDMI cable.
- Stretched image: Select 4:3, Original, Normal, or Fit on the display for classic games.

BROOK ADAPTERS
Compatibility • Firmware • Connection Issues
Use this guide for setup, compatibility checks, firmware updates, and common connection issues with Brook Wingman and other Brook adapters sold by RetroArcadeCrafts.
Check compatibility first
Brook adapters are model-specific. Before connecting anything, confirm the exact adapter model, target console, and controller are compatible. Similar-looking Wingman models can support different systems.
- Match the model name printed on the adapter or packaging to the product listing.
- Check whether your controller must be wired, wireless, or used with its USB receiver.
- For console-specific restrictions, use Brook's compatibility list for that exact model.
Basic setup
- Turn off the console.
- Connect the Brook adapter to the correct console port.
- Connect the controller with a known-good data-capable USB cable. Charge-only cables will not work.
- Turn on the console and wait for the adapter indicator to stabilize.
- Press the controller's Home, Guide, or PS button if required.
- After wired operation is confirmed, follow the model's pairing instructions if you want to use wireless mode.
Firmware updates
- Identify the exact Brook model before downloading anything.
- Visit the official Brook download page and select that model only.
- Read the included update instructions and release notes.
- Connect the adapter directly to the computer with a data-capable USB cable; avoid unpowered hubs.
- Do not disconnect the adapter or close the updater while an update is in progress.
- Reconnect the adapter to the console and test again after the update completes.
Official Brook firmware and user-guide downloads
Adapter is not detected
- Try another USB data cable and USB port.
- Disconnect other controller adapters during testing.
- Restart the console with the Brook adapter already connected.
- Test the controller directly on another compatible device.
- Remove batteries or disable wireless mode temporarily when testing a wired controller.
Buttons, pairing, or disconnect problems
- Clear old pairings and pair again using the exact model's instructions.
- Update the adapter firmware if Brook lists a fix for your controller or console.
- Test without extension cables, USB hubs, or pass-through devices.
- If buttons are mapped incorrectly, restore the adapter's default settings before remapping.
- Console system updates can affect third-party adapter compatibility; check Brook's latest firmware and notices.
