YPbPr to HDMI Setup & Troubleshooting

Use this guide to connect a device with YPbPr component video and red/white analog audio to an HDMI TV, monitor, or projector.

Before you begin

  • YPbPr Component + R/L Audio to HDMI Converter
  • Component video cable with green, blue, and red plugs
  • Red/white stereo audio cable
  • HDMI cable
  • Included 5V/1A power supply or power cable

Connections

  1. Turn off the source device, converter, and display.
  2. Connect component video by matching green to Y, blue to Pb/Cb, and red to Pr/Cr.
  3. Connect audio by matching the white plug to L and the red audio plug to R. Do not confuse the red audio plug with the red component-video plug.
  4. Connect an HDMI cable from HDMI OUT on the converter to the display.
  5. Connect the included 5V/1A power supply.
  6. Select the correct HDMI input, then turn on the converter and source device.

Resolution and source settings

The converter supports compatible component-video signals and HDMI output up to 1080p. It does not turn a low-resolution source into native high-definition detail; final picture quality depends on the source and display.

For PlayStation 2, open System Configuration and set Component Video Out to Y Cb/Pb Cr/Pr. RGB output will not work through the YPbPr inputs.

No signal or incorrect colors

  1. Confirm the display is on the correct HDMI input and the converter's power indicator is on.
  2. Verify all three video plugs are in the matching Y, Pb/Cb, and Pr/Cr inputs.
  3. Confirm the source is configured for component/YPbPr output.
  4. Try another HDMI cable, port, or display.
  5. Try a resolution supported by both the source and display.

Audio and video issues

  • No audio: Reconnect the red/white audio plugs, confirm L and R are correct, and check the display's HDMI audio settings.
  • Green, purple, or distorted picture: Recheck the three component-video plugs and source output mode.
  • Flicker or dropouts: Use the included stable power supply, shorten cable runs, and test another HDMI cable.
  • Stretched image: Select 4:3, Original, Normal, or Fit on the display for classic games.
